Network marketing is not a new concept. In fact, it has been around for as long as sales itself. The concept of marketing through a network is the very foundation of grassroots marketing. In the beginning there were corporations that had sales and marketing teams. Then, as people got smarter and the need for more flexible work schedules grew, the “work from home” concept quickly became popular.
Then as “work from home” became more attractive, so did “work for myself...from home” and so the network marketing industry was born. |

Even though I am a huge advocate of network marketing, I can understand why network marketing, direct selling, mlm, and mutli-level marketing has had some negative connotations associated with the concept. It’s commonly mistaken for a pyramid scheme which is illegal due to the pyramid nature of passing money or a fabricated business opportunity from one person or group to another.
Network marketing has been given a bad name because of the multiple commission levels that are associated with the product sales. However, the only difference between a network marketing business model and that of a standard corporation is the ownership of the business, which in the case of network marketing, lays with the individual on a much smaller scale.
It’s really unfair to cast shadows on network marketing or mlm simply because of the sales structure of the organization. If you compare your standard organization to network marketing, many network marketing companies offer an incredible array of products and services that rival many conventional corporations, offering similar products and services. And in a lot of ways, they do it better by cutting out cost prohibitive corporate budgets.
Plus, the network marketing industry enables virtually ANYONE to own their own business with substantial support.
It’s pretty crazy to think network marketing as a “scheme” because of the multi- level structure of the business because quite simply, every organization with a sales force HAS a mutli- level compensation structure in place.
The sales person gets a commission, the regional manager, the directors, the VP’s, they all get something all the way up to the executives. It’s multi-level in every sense of the phrase.
When looking at the Network marketing industry, there is a distinct difference. Most people starting their own business are not experienced sales people. So... when put in a the sales role, typically they migrate to the people they feel less threatened by, i.e. friends and family also know as your “warm market”.
Unfortunately too many people get into the network marketing world and beat up their friends and families to the point where they’ll make sales, but won’t duplicate so well. And quite honestly, this really isn’t the best way to build an organization.
Why? A corporate sales person is required to study the product as well as learn sales techniques to uncover the real needs of a customer. It’s a huge difference and you rarely see a corporate sales person hounding their friends and family to be successful.
As with any business, a successful network marketing business relies on one thing. It’s MARKETING and SALES . Understand these concepts, and you’ll already have an advantage of 98% of your competition.
First and foremost you have to know the product. You have to use it, you have to believe in it. How can you get behind a product and build a business around it if you don’t use it and believe in it?
You need to study and become an expert. The more knowledge you can obtain about your company or product as well as how to market the business, the more leverage you’ll have to succeed in duplicating your success.
When you’re an expert and people know it, they come to YOU for solutions.
Get to know your customer. Who buys the product? Why do they buy it? What will it do for them? Keep in mind that part of the product could very well be the business opportunity itself.
Learn how to MARKET your business from people who KNOW how to teach and SHOW you using the most effective, innovative, and cutting-edge, Attraction Marketing strategies.
Although “warm market” marketing is effective and does work, you can’t build a successful business by assuming your friends and family will carry you over the finish line. Unless you have an insanely huge family and an endless pool of friends your business is most likely terminal within 90 days.
Unfortunately, 98% of network marketers fail within their first 90 days due to the lack of success. People can only take so much rejection from their warm market so they quit.
Learn to use technology to your advantage! How about learning to tap into the massive amount of people already looking for you? Every month, thousands of people search Google and other search engines looking for home business opportunities or alternative ways to create income.
How do we suggest you get the product in the hands of people whom you’ve never met, and possibly thousands of miles from where you live?
Learn to leverage the power of the internet to reach out to the hoards of people already looking for you. Learn to expose your business using the most powerful marketing tool on Earth...the Internet.
In our opinion, you can build your business much quicker and simpler using these methods.
Having the knowledge and all the support in the world is useless unless you have the proper mindset to make it work. One of my favorite quotes is, “Your DREAM and the Pursuit of that dream has to be greater and stronger than the will of the people and the circumstances that will come up against you to destroy it”.
It’s SO important to make a commitment to yourself for a least 1 year to get yourself past the 90 day threshold. You WILL experience failure and lots of it. You just have to decide if you’re strong enough to stick with it.
The greatest privilege about network marketing is the business ownership. When done right, the freedom and the financial security that business ownership can bring could be substantial.There’s no greater freedom than having a strong income producing asset like a good business. |
